Amtrak Downeaster Holiday Getaway

This weekend, I partnered with Amtrak Downeaster for the Holiday Getaway. Jared and I had so much fun exploring a city we love and it was just a short ride along the Amtrak. I've been a frequent rider on the Downeaster for years so I was excited to review this experience. For the Holiday Getaway, Jared and I spent this weekend in Boston getting some of our Christmas shopping done and meeting up with some friends.

Woke up at 4:30 AM to catch the 6AM train to Boston. It was amazing to watch the sun rise from the train.

My favorite part of taking the Downeaster is the access to wifi AND outlets next to my seat. I charge my gear right next to me and have enough room to work on the way.

Our first stop was at the Boston Public Market for a Kale smoothie. Good, but not as good as the Maine Squeeze!

It was colder than we thought in the city, so we stopped at Faneuil Hall to warm up and plan our day.

Although it was cold, I was happy to dig out my winter hat! I'm wearing a vintage jean jacket, BDG High-Waisted jeans from Urban Outfitters and my boots and backpack are Forever 21. (of course, my whole outfit is from my two favorite shops.)

One of my favorite places in Boston is Tatte Bakery+ Cafe. We ordered the Avocado Tartine for late breakfast. SO DELICIOUS.

I thought I would feature my new phone case. Loving it.

Hannah from Amtrak Downeaster recommended that we check out the Prudential Center Skywalk Observatory, something we had not yet been to (!!!). The view is amazing.

Thanks to Amtrak Downeaster for the opportunity to spend the weekend in one of my favorite cities. I am so fortunate to have a stop right here in Portland!

My experience was truly wonderful. I had my tickets right on my phone, so when we boarded the train I showed the barcode and our ID's. We boarded at 6AM, so I was worried about the Cafe car opening late. Fortunately, it opened about ten minutes later and we got coffee and breakfast! Watching the sunrise from the train was so unexpectedly beautiful.

Our trip home is about two and a half hours and we were so tired from the day. We were out about a 45 minute walk to North Station so we hopped on the Green line which took us right there. The train was almost full on the ride back but remained pretty quiet. I started editing my photos but because the white noise from the train on the tracks is so soothing to me, naturally I fell right asleep. Both ways were comfortable and quiet and the crew on board was so delightful (we had a "host" on board-someone that welcomed us both ways and gave us maps to our destination. He was so sweet!) Our experience was great, as always, and I thank Amtrak for the opportunity to participate in the Holiday Getaway review to share my experience with my friends (a term I use for both my close friends and my followers).

If you're headed to Boston, some of my favorite places to hang and take photos are Beacon Hill, Tatte Bakery, Skywalk Observatory, Newbury Street, the Science Museum and the Aquarium! Of course there are so many great spots in Boston, these are just some of my most frequent stops!
