Midcoast Maine Getaway at 250 Main Hotel

Some of you may know that I've been traveling for the last six weeks. I wrapped up my travel season in Rockland, Maine last week and stayed at the most unique hotel. Jared came along and we stayed in Room 502, a cozy, mid-century modern space with a panoramic view of the ocean. The hotel features an art gallery on all floors and is full of art and design inspiration. Each night guests are invited to a complimentary "wine social" - which was one of my favorites - and a simple continental breakfast each morning. The hotel is centered in downtown Rockland and walking distance to great restaurants, the Vinalhaven ferry terminal and the Center for Maine Contemporary Art. I absolutely fell in love with Rockland and I look forward to returning! We took a look around the hotel and visited some of the other rooms:

If you have the chance to visit Rockland, I absolutely recommend 250 Main Hotel. Their staff are friendly and kind and have great local recommendations. In fact, I received a message via Instagram on my last day in Rockland from a friend who decided to book a reservation based on my posts from this hotel! Shoutout to Carla and her husband Matt for having their own little getaway during Halloween!

Special thanks to 250 Main Hotel for their hospitality. Book yourself a little getaway: www.250mainhotel.com

My Style: New Hair

I finally have an updated hairstyle for the Spring and I am so happy with it! As some of you may know, I've been rockin' all sorts of reds and browns lately (sort of by accident):

About two years ago, I bleached all my hair and went blonde. By myself. That was fun while it lasted (...about a month). See right. I was so hot and cold with blonde hair. I wish I had given myself a blonde ombre because the one thing I hated about the blonde was how fast my dark roots were growing out. I was so embarrassed by my blonde hair that when Jared and I won a contest with another local photographer to get a couple portrait session done...we never scheduled it because I didn't want photos of my blonde hair!

Well, in the last two years I let my hair do its own thing and the ends of my hair were still lighter than my roots and had turned auburn. I even received compliments often from people thinking I had red balayage. Embarrassingly, I would explain that my hair has just grown out to this and I haven't had a haircut in over a year...

It did sort of have a balayage/ombre thing going on. Well, now my hair is all one color and I finally have a fresh cut. I'm loviiiinnnng it.

Let me know what you think! I love changing my hair but I am usually so hesitant to make major changes. Next time...I think I'll put some greyish highlights in there.

I received a gift card for Christmas to Coco Cheveaux salon in South Portland. My hair was done by Meaghan who did an amazing job and was such a sweetheart!

My Style: Christmas 2015

I took a small hiatus from the blog to study for finals and enjoy the holiday season. I hope you had a great holiday! I had a great Christmas this year. Jared and I spent Christmas morning in our apartment together before visiting all the relatives. It was our first time opening gifts together without our parents or other family members so it was extra special.

I am also so grateful for what Jared got me for Christmas! I haven't stopped wearing or using any of it. I've been begging to go look at coats for a while and I've been trying to find the perfect one. Somehow, Jared found it without my and in my size! It's a little longer than I wanted originally but I love it just as much.

I was really hoping he got me a coat-so much that may I planned my Christmas day outfit around having it...hehe, I was so happy when I opened it!

We spent the next few days "staycation-ing" in Portland and trying some new places. Jared took these photos of me at Lois Natural.

Jared also got me a new iPhone and a Misfit which I've also been dying for! Also-I don't want to seem like I'm bragging but I truly am so grateful. And believe me, it isn't easy for either of us to gift, but we have been saving up and always try to give each other the best gifts because it's just something we both like to do. I saved up and sold a lot of my gear to buy Jared an Xbox One this year and making his Christmas awesome was my goal. We keep our heads about material things, but sometimes its nice to splurge especially if its for one day out of the year!

My parents have had a 1970's television set in their living room for my whole life, so this year we knew we had to get them a new TV. My brother, Jared and I went in on it together and bought Chromecasts for the rest of the family. We didn't really aim to get a bunch of tech this year, it just happened! But everyone was happy and so were we.

Jareds birthday is this week so the festivities continue! I'll do another post about my Misfit soon because it deserves its own shine!

My Style + Adventure: LL Bean Boots / Lank Farm

For the last two years, I have been wearing Jared's moms L.L. Bean Thinsulate boots (which I love) but I finally got my own pair! Although the insulated boots are perfect for snow, snowshoeing and winter adventures, they are heavy to walk in and my feet get too warm if I am inside. These new bean boots are better for everyday winter wear.

I love them! I thought I always wanted a taller pair, but I am so short that the taller boots hide a lot of my leg. I am happy with these ones!

We spent the day at Lank Farm, getting a jump start looking at Christmas trees and wreaths. We love taking photos around the farm.
